Visit Machu Picchu in economic mode in 15 steps

Machu Picchu is one of the most fantastic of the “7 Wonders of the Modern World”.  Unmissable! Magic! There are dozens of ways to discover Machu Picchu, depending on how much you can spend, how many days you have available, the level of adventure you want, and your physical shape. If you are in good physical shape, and would like to visit this magical Inca city in economic mode, follow these 15 steps! That’s what I did, on my trip around the world.

– On the official tourism website of Peru (www.machupicchu.gob.pe/), at least 3 months in advance, check the availability of tickets for Machu Picchu (and Huanapichu mountain, I strongly recommend) for the desired period. Attention to the new rules of visits shifts and daily limit of tourists that is in this official site. I advise you to buy the HuaynaPicchu visit ticket from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. along with the entrance to Machu Picchu in the morning shift (6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.). To see Machu Picchu calmly for a full day, I also advise you to buy the ticket just for Machu Picchu for the afternoon shift (12.00 to 17.30) to visit Machu Picchu all day. It is worth seeing one of the “7 Wonders of the Modern  World” with calm. Before you buy the ticket online, check the flights;

– Check which flight is the most economical (passing or not by Lima). Make a intensive search, on multiple days and at various times, searching for the cheapest flights, at the dates you can travel. If you have flights and tickets for Machu Picchu available on the date you want, you can start planning your trip;

– In Cusco, stay overnight in a hostel, and ask if you can leave the bag in the hostel when you go to Machu Pitchu. Check out the best prices in the local tourist agencies in Cusco, for transportation by Van to and from Central Thermoelectric. Confirm the time and place agreed for departure and return;

– Check hostel in Aguas Calientes for 2 nights: the night of arrival to Aguas Calientes and the night after the day of visit to Machu Pichu;

– On the day of the travel by van from Cusco to the Thermoelectric Power Plant, carry only the essentials: toiletries, strictly necessary clothing (check for weather forecasts), water, food and documents. Anything that contributes to the weight of the backpack will make the walks more difficult. Bring only comfortable walking shoes;

-Arrived to Thermoelectric Power Station, walk on the way to Aguas Calientes. If the weight of the backpack is low and the shoes comfortable, the trip is quite pleasant, with breathtaking scenery;

-Stay overnight in Aguas Calientes. The next day, very early, 4.00 a.m. , start the trek to Machu Picchu. It is essential to wear comfortable shoes, flashlight and dispense any unnecessary weight (the climb up to Machu Pichu is hard …);

-Entrance to Machu Pichu. From 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., take advantage of the magical entrance into one of the seventh wonders of the world. Enjoy …

At 6:30 am head to the entrance of Huayna Picchu and wait in the quele, so you don´t delay your climb of the mountain;

- After descending the mountain, I recommend you to leave Machu Picchu and join a group to re-enter and enjoy the services of a guide at a low price. Explain to a guide your intent. The guided tour lasts approximately two

- Following the guide service, if you have some time available, freely enjoy. Otherwise, exit and re-enter with the afternoon shift ticket and then explore, photograph, imagine this city bustling with life in the time of the Incas;

-Walk back to the Hostel in Aguas Calientes and stay overnight;

-The next day, walk from Aguas Calientes to Central Hydroelectric;

-Return by van to Cusco;

-Stay overnight in Cusco, in the same hostel where you left the suitcase;

- If you still have days available, visit Cusco, Rainbow Mountain, Sacred Valley of the Incas, and taste the fantastic Peruvian cuisine.
